According to information taken from the International Genealogy Index (I.G.I.), Matthew Jewell was baptised on the 2nd August 1818, in the Parish of St Ithians, Cornwall. Matthew was the fifth child of Richard Jewell and Elizabeth Phillips.
A fruther search of the I.G.I., has found only 1 possible marriage invloving a Matthew Jewell. Interestingly the marriage occured in Redruth, very close to the Parish of St Ithians. According to the I.G.I., Matthew married Jane Andrew on the 17th April 1823. Even though that the marriage only occured 5 years after Matthew was baptised, does not automatically mean that this marriage did not involve "my" Matthew. Not all children were baptised soon after they were born. Also there is no other instance of a marriage involving Matthew, and there is not possible other record of a Matthew being baptised prior to this marriage (within 50 years).
A subsequent search of the I.G.I, has failed to locate any record of any children being baptised to Matthew and Jane. It may be that they moved to another County, migrated overseas, or never had children at all. Hopefully further research will determine what became of Matthew and Jane.
