Myrtle Eileen Jewell was the second child of George & Mary Jewell, and was born sometime in 1901, Myrtle was born in Long Gully. Unfortunately I do not know the exact date, however according to the information I have obtained from her death certificate it seems she was born in July 1901, but I can not be certain, as I have not obtained a copy of her birth certificate.
Like so many babies during that time Myrtle died at a young age. According to her death certificate (a copy of which I have), Myrtle died of chronic Diarrhoea. Whilst the death certificate does not say what caused the chronic Diarrhoea, it would have been most likely Dysantry. Sadly Gladys died on the 2nd of April 1902 at the family home - 9 Bolt Street Bendigo.
On the 3rd of April 1902, Myrtle was buried at the Bendigo General Cemetery. According to my research, she was buried in an open grave. On visiting Bendigo Cemetery I could not locate a headstone, I did however locate the approximate area. To look at it you would not know that anyone was buried there
