Harriet was born on the 12th December 1871, Harriet was born in California Gully, which is next to Long Gully. Her parents were John & Elizabeth Pithie (nee Male)
On the 21/07/1895 Harriet married John Jewell Jnr in Long Gully. At the time of her marriage, Harriet was 23, and her occupation was shown as a housekeeper. Research also indicates that she was a dressmaker as well.

On the 3rd of August 1956, Hariet died, at 39 Bridport St, Albert Park. The funeral was held the next day, and she was buried with her husband John at Bendigo Cemetery.
There was an obituary in the Bendigo Advertiser which read;
"Mrs Harriet Elizabeth Jewell, former well known identity of Long Gully has died at the home of her daughter, Mrs W.J. Bolitho, 39 Bridport Street, South Melbourne, after a prolonged illness, at the age of 84 years. She was a native of Eaglehawk, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Pithie. Later in life, she married Mr. John Jewell, who was well known in the mining industry of Long Gully, where she made her home and lived until the death of her husband in 1922. For many years, Mrs. Jewell was associated with the Wilson Street Methodist Church. Lately, she had lived some years in Melbourne. She is survived by three sons, Edgar, Albert and Ronald, and her only daughter, Pearl (Mrs W.J. Bolitho). A son Norman predeceased her. The funeral on Saturday morning from the chapel of Wm (william) Farmer, after a family service, was to Bendigo Cementery. Rev. T. Byard officiated"
